My Carluccio's Experience

Hello everyone i am back with a really short restaurant review. Last night went for a quick dinner at Carluccio's in South Kensington.

Getting into the restaurant we were immediately welcomed by a waitress and seated to our table with menus. This contains a good variety of dishes mainly northern Italy specialities which was quite pleasing since is were i come from.

Loved the intern design of the shop and the small "Italian Bottega" feel next to the resturant dining just like being in a small Italian village in London, as you could see the salami hanging on the wall & the layered  " made at home" cakes and pastries, Wine displayed nicely swell as the olive oils, Aceto Balsamico ect..

However dish prices are really affordable and there is a set menú for dinner & lunch with two or three courses.

The service i am not going to lie and brag was really poor, to my point of view and was not even busy.  Positive thing: between a course and another the food came really quickly.

Maybe the staff was "tired" but to order anything from starters to dessert we always had to ask a waiter two times before they came over, my friend ordered coke which never came and instead the gave her tap water -.-.

We asked for a small basket of bread which was £ 4.50 containing one big cracker a small piece of focaccia and one piece brown bread. (yeah i was shocked too!!)
We only ordered this to accompany the "to share starter" which was  GREAT: a selection of antipasti with Prosciutto Gran Sasso, mortadella, salami, Parmigiano Reggiano, olives and much more.

So getting to the mains: i got a new addiction to the menú in the pasta section called Festoni with Smoked Salmon & Vodka basically pasta tossed in tomato and vodka cream sauce with then smoked salmon snd basil. It was quite good but not really the best plate of pasta, missing some flavours from the salmon in the tomato sauce but thats just my opinion and going to advice you if you are not a pasta eater and don't like to try different shapes is not going to be the best option for you. This platter was for £12.50

However my friend got spaghetti all carbonara and linguine seafood, the first didn't like at all i thought on my opinion bit too dry, maybe a bit of olive oil. To make it less "stressful" to eat.

Sorry she has an obsession with Grana cheese even where is not necessary.
Dessert was my favourite part, i simply got Gelato i was just too full and shared with my friend chocolate cake with rum and to the side vanilla scoop.

I would love to know what you guys think and if you have had a better experience than mine, i never complain but i was feeling that this was not the best and would i actually go back? probably not but i am really keen in trying their Pollo all Milanese cause is huge as i was seeing from people orders indeed not many took pasta more the meat and salads so i guess you should go more for a brunch lunch type of vibe.
